Man Arrested in Joshua Tree After High Speed Chase With Stolen Vehicle

A man driving a vehicle that had been stolen nearly one month prior was arrested in Joshua Tree after leading police on a high speed chase.

The black Ford 1-150 was reported stolen on November 4, 2019, out of Joshua Tree. At about 3:41 PM on November 30, 45-year-old Victor Finn of Joshua Tree was driving it around with no license plates and refused to stop when Morongo Basin Deputy Smit attempted to pull him over.

Instead, Finn “led Smit on a pursuit through Joshua Tree for several miles at high rates of speed,” according to the release. The suspect finally stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Two Mile Road and Border Avenue in Joshua Tree “and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by Smit.”

The deputy searched the vehicle and discovered heroin, a scale, plastic bags, and cash inside.

The suspect had a previous warrant out for his arrest and was arrested on additional charges of failure to yield, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of narcotics for sales. He is being held at Morongo Basin Jail on a bail of $100,000.
