Attempted Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

The Vacaville Police Department published the following statement in regards to the recent arrest of a bank robbery suspect.

“When officers arrived on scene the suspect was still inside the bank. The suspect had presented a note to the teller demanding money, but there were no weapons involved.

Several bank employees fled the business as officers were arriving in the area. Officers surrounded the bank and a short time later the suspect was taken into custody as he walked out of the business.

A second person had been detained in the parking lot, but determined to not be involved, and was released at the scene. The suspect has been identified as 56 year old Fairfield resident, Maurice Girod Van Buren. He was booked into county jail for attempted robbery.
