Salinas Police have announced the arrest of two individuals on illegal firearm and evasion charges following a pursuit last week.

According to a press release dated November 19, Violence Suppression Task Force officers tried to pull over a vehicle in the area of San Juan Grade Road and Russell Road.

The driver refused to yield, initiating a 36-mile pursuit that was eventually taken over by a CHP officer at 101 Southbound and Tennat Avenue in Morgan Hill.

At some point, an unregistered and loaded .40 caliber handgun was also thrown from the suspect vehicle.

The pursuit finally came to an end at the Blossom Hill Road exit in San Jose, where the suspects — identified as 22-year-old Edwin Sandoval and 25-year-old Jesse Rodriguez — were taken into custody.

They have since been booked at the Monterey County Jail.
