From the official Merced County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page:

“STEVINSON, CA – On November 15, 2019 at about 7:00PM the Merced County Sheriff’s STAR Team was following up on an investigation regarding gang activity and possible illegal possession of firearms by a known gang member. The STAR Team attempted to initiate a vehicle stop on the subject. However, the suspect fled leading deputies on a high speed chase from the township of Hilmar, south on Highway 165.

After about a 10-mile pursuit exceeding speeds of 120 MPH, the suspect lost control of the vehicle in the area of the US Fish and Wildlife “South Freitas” parking Lot entrance. The suspect exited his vehicle and an officer Involved shooting ensued. The suspect was stuck once and all law enforcement involved are reported to be uninjured.

The suspect was flown to a local hospital for treatment. I will update you with more information as it becomes available.”
