San Diego County to hold placement hearing for sexually violent predator

JACUMBA HOT SPRINGS San Diego County, along with the Department of State Hospitals, will be opening the floor to public comment on the housing placement of Thomas Cornwell, who’s been designated a sexually violent predator, under Welfare & Institutions Code section 6609.1.

The proposed location, which falls under the discretion of the Department of State Hospitals and the San Diego County Superior Court, is 2135 McCain Valley Road in Jacumba Hot Springs.

Per the United States Census, as of 2010, Jacumba Hot Springs held a population of 561.

The official hearing is scheduled for December 19, 2019. In the meantime, the SAFE Task Force will be accepting public comments between November 13 and November 27, 2019.

All submitted comments will be forwarded to the Department of State Hospitals and the Superior Court prior to the hearing, though comments will also be accepted at the hearing.
