CHOWCHILLA — Police have announced the arrest of a man on suspicion of driving drunk and causing a fatal traffic collision earlier this month.

Just after 8:30 PM on Friday, November 8, officers responded to a reported collision between a Chevy truck and a Suzuki Forenza at North 5th Street and Ventura Avenue.

Police say several of the occupants in the Suzuki sustained moderate to severe injuries. One of the occupants, a juvenile female, later died.

Further investigation determined that the driver of the Chevy, 24-year-old Marcos Torres of Chowchilla, had been driving intoxicated.

He was arrested and booked on suspicion of felony driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
