Pair arrested after stolen check, bolt-action rifle found in truck

SONOMA COUNTY — Sonoma County deputies arrested two people last week, one on suspicion of possessing a silencer and public intoxication and the other for possession of stolen property.
Around 8 AM on Monday, November 11, a deputy arrived in the area of Highway 1 and Annapolis road on a report of a man down.
There he met with 35-year-old Latisha McCloud of Stewarts Point as she sat in a red Ford truck parked at the roadside, with the driver’s side door open and 47-year-old Jason Bean of Gualala passed out intoxicated in her lap.
Once Bean was awake, he reportedly told the deputy he had a firearm in the truck, which turned out to be a bolt-action rifle with a large silencer attached to it.
Bean claimed the rifle was for hunting deer to feed his kids.
A further search also turned up a business check in McCloud’s purse that didn’t belong to her which, coupled with McCloud’s history of being arrested for passing stolen checks, theft of credit cards, and forgery, was cause for suspicion.
The check in this scenario had been stolen out of a mailbox in Geyserville during the Kincade Fire evacuation.
Bean was ultimately booked on a felony charge of possession of a silencer and a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication. McCloud was booked on suspicion of felony possession of stolen property.
