Riverside Police Detectives have announced the arrest of a suspect in a shooting that killed one and injured another late last month.

Just after 10 PM on Thursday, October 24, officers arrived in the area of 14th Street and Park Avenue to investigate reports of gunfire and discovered two adult males in a vehicle who had sustained gunshot wounds.

Both were treated by Riverside Fire Department personnel and taken to hospital but, unfortunately, one of the victims — 20-year-old Johnny Gil of Riverside — was pronounced dead.

The second victim was later released from the hospital.

Robbery-homicide detectives and Gang Intelligence units worked extensively alongside forensics specialists, as well as officials from the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office and DA’s Office, and soon identified 24-year-old Rozelle Forest Hale as the primary suspect.

Hale was tracked to Los Angeles and arrested on Tuesday, October 29.

The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office filed a formal murder charge against Hale on Friday, November 8.
