The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office has opened an investigation into a reported home invasion robbery at a licensed marijuana farm in the Douglas City area late last month.

At around 12:30 AM on Friday, October 25, two farm workers were reportedly ambushed by multiple armed suspects — all described as adult males, one Caucasian and approximately ten African-American, wearing gloves and dark-colored ski masks.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the suspects bound the two workers with duct tape and even struck them with their firearms at one point. They later fled with a large quantity of drying marijuana.

After several hours the two farm workers were able to free themselves, but simply returned to their homes instead of contacting law enforcement.

Later, however, they contacted the owner of the farm to report the robbery, at which point the owner contacted authorities.

The suspects’ vehicles are described as possibly being a dark-colored Ford pickup truck pulling an unknown cargo trailer as well as a newer, dark-colored Toyota sedan, though the Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that these descriptions are not certain.

The investigation is ongoing.
