CLEARLAKE – Once in a while the basic patrol conducted by a law enforcement officer leads to the discovery of criminal activity.

Such was the case on October 16 close to 5:00 a.m. near the People’s Services in the 14500 block of Lakeshore Drive.

A sergeant with the Clearlake Police Department was on a patrol when he encountered two men walking, and carrying a “large wooden storage container.”

Peoples Services is of course not open at that hour, and they have previously reported thefts from their building, property and vehicles.

Upon contact with the officer, 32-year-old Salvadore Barrett and 36-year-old Bogat Cardenascacho, 36 said that they were taking the container because it was being thrown away.

The officer placed the two under arrest for petty theft and prowling.

Salvardore also had a set of metal knuckles in his possession, and as such also faces charges for violating 2180 PC, possession of metal knuckles. The pair were booked into the Lake County Jail.
