SAN MATEO – On October 16th officers with the San Mateo Police Department observed a man driving erratically in a known “auto burglary hot spot”.

At 8:30 p.m. near S. Norfolk Street and Fashion Island Boulevard the driver of a silver Chrysler minivan was spotted driving without the lights on, and driving off the roadway and onto a grassy area.

The driver did not obey the officer’s attempt to stop him, which led to “a low-speed pursuit into a cul de sac in the 1600 block of Norton Street.”

Juan Manuel Lopez was eventually stopped and subsequently arrested for being under the influence of alcohol and driving on a suspended license.
