LINCOLN — A Cameron Park woman has been arrested after reportedly asking a police officer for a ride back to a car she’d stolen.

Around 11 PM on Thursday, October 17, 37-year-old Lynette Stewart flagged down an officer on the 600 block of Lincoln Boulevard, claiming that she’d run out of gas and needed help finding her way back to her car.

It turned out the officer had already spotted the car she described about six blocks away.

After giving Stewart a lift, he ran the plates and discovered the car had actually been reported stolen out of Cameron Park.

Stewart was then arrested and booked on suspicion of vehicle theft and possession of methamphetamine.
