Winters man who fled from deputy arrested for transporting meth, heroin

YOLO COUNTY — A Winters man has been arrested on suspicion of transporting methamphetamine and heroin following a pursuit late last month.

Just outside of Esparto on Wednesday September 18th, a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by 55-year-old Armida Contreras, who instead tried to flee and led the deputy on an approximately five-mile chase.

Contreras was also reportedly throwing items out the window during the chase, which were later determined to be baggies containing methamphetamine and heroin.

At some point, Contreras finally stopped and was ordered out of the vehicle, which later turned up more meth and heroin during a search. About 94 grams of heroin and 101 grams of methamphetamine were seized in total.

Contreras was arrested and booked into the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of possession for sale and transportation for sale of methamphetamine and heroin, destruction of evidence, and evasion.
