BELLFLOWER – A Christmas 2017 tragedy ran its two-year course today on October 3rd 2019. Santiago Palacios Salgado (dob 7/25/61) received his belated sentence for the murder of his estranged wife, whom he shot dead in front of the family on Christmas Day.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Cowell handed the 40 years-to-life prison sentence to Sagado for his domestic killing in the home on the 9100 block of Rosecrans Avenue in Bellflower. “He displayed a handgun and fatally shot his estranged wife, Gabriela Romero-Garcia (41),” said the DA’s Office.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department conducted the full investigation. Deputy District Attorney Amanda Luna prosecuted case VA146582, whereby Salgado pleaded “no contest” last August to one felony count of second-degree murder.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey leads the largest local prosecutorial office in the nation. Her staff of nearly 1,000 attorneys, 300 investigators and 800 support staff members is dedicated to protecting the community through the fair and ethical pursuit of justice and the safeguarding of crime victims’ rights.
