SAN LEANDRO — Four suspects were arrested a few days after a newly opened cannabis store was burglarized. Numerous weapons, cannabis and a large quantity of cash were recovered in the ongoing investigation.

Masked burglars entered the Blum store located at 1915 Fairway Drive, after-hours on September 22. They pried open a back door to gain entry, despite an alarm and onsite surveillance cameras.

The thieves got away with a safe and a substantial amount of cannabis, before responding officers arrived. The suspects fled in two separate vehicles, but investigators were able to identify one of the vehicles.

The same suspects allegedly committed three additional burglaries and stole a second safe from another business. Both safes were subsequently recovered although they were damaged.

In addition to the arrests, police confiscated an arsenal of weapons, including handguns and assault rifles. Police also recovered thousands of rounds of ammunition.

The weapons and ammunition were discovered inside a storage locker belonging to one of the suspects. The locker also contained more than $40,000 in cash in various denominations.

“This is very much an ongoing investigation,” said San Leandro police Lt. Isaac Benabou. “We’re satisfied knowing deadly weapons have been taken off the streets and out of the hands of dangerous criminals.”

Meanwhile, the investigation remains open and the four individuals arrested are facing numerous charges.
