Gunfire at the Park, Three Arrested, Shooter Sought

FONTANA – Officers from the Fontana Police Department made quick response to a call of “shots fired” during a fight on September 24th involving subjects in Jack Bulik Park (16581 Filbert St., Fontana).

Numerous dispatched officers made their arrival at approximately 5:30 PM, to determine that several subjects, believed to be known to one another, were embroiled in a physical altercation.

An escalation in the action took place when a large adult male subject brandished a handgun. One round that was fired towards the fighting participants resulted in a direct hit to an adult female.

As Detectives worked all night, three adult suspects were ID’d and arrested for various charges. Michelle Pacheco (36), Jocelyn Castro (25), and Robert Castro (19) were taken into custody, however the shooter was not.

The female shooting victim was treated and released from an area hospital.

Fontana PD has asked for the public’s assistance locating the shooter. “The subject that brandished and fired the firearm is still outstanding and the investigation is still ongoing,” said FPD. “Detectives are attempting to locate the outstanding suspect and he is described as a heavy set Hispanic Male Adult 5’8″, 240 pounds, wearing black pants and a black shirt.”
