Two arrested on suspicion of mail theft in Sutter County

SUTTER — Two individuals have been arrested on suspicion of mail theft after allegedly being caught casing mailboxes earlier this week.

On the night of Monday, September 23rd, Sutter County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of South Butte Road and West Butte Road, where they contacted 52-year-old Janice Grimmett and 23-year-old James Cantrell, who were indeed found to have stolen mail in their possession.

The two were arrested and booked into the Sutter County Jail on charges of mail theft and possession of stolen property.
