REDDING — Two suspects are in custody after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs and a felony warrant earlier this week, police say.

Just before 9:30 PM on Sunday, September 22, an officer pulled over Shawn Edward Applehans II (30) and Lorin Ashley Leonard (28), both of Redding, and discovered that both were on probation.

Leonard also had a felony warrant out for her arrest, prompting a probation search of the vehicle which turned up drug paraphernalia, pepper spray, burglary tools, and ammunition.

Applehans, being a convicted felon, was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of pepper spray, ammunition, burglary tools, and probation violation. Leonard was also arrested on the outstanding warrant, possession of drug paraphernalia, and probation violation.

After being transported to the Shasta County Jail, Leonard admitted to having 2.1 grams of heroin concealed on her person, for which she is additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance and bringing a controlled substance into a jail.
