Suspect identified in fatal stabbing of Spring Valley teenager

SPRING VALLEY — San Diego County detectives have arrested a suspect in the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Jeffrey Quirino back in 2016.

Just after 4:30 PM on May 23, 2016, deputies responded to a reported fight in front of a house on Delrose Avenue only to learn that a person involved had been taken to a local hospital by a passing motorist.

That person, later identified as Quirino, passed away due to his injuries.

Detectives worked diligently for the next three years and, on September 16 of this year, identified 27-year-old Christian Lopez as the primary suspect in Quirino’s murder.

As it turned out, Lopez was already in custody on unrelated charges.
