LUCERNE — Lake County deputies have arrested a man in connection to the hit-and-run death of another man early last week.

At around 1:30 AM on Tuesday, September 10, deputies responded to the area of 7th Avenue and Highway 20, where they discovered a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

The man was taken to Sutter Lakeside Hospital, where he ultimately passed away. His name has not been released pending notification of family.

Investigators collected evidence and witness statements identifying the driver of the suspect vehicle as 62-year-old Thomas Andrew Magee, with whom the victim had reportedly been engaged in some sort of property dispute.

Deputies issued a Be On The Lookout alert for Magee’s vehicle, described as a white van.

Just before 2 AM, a CHP officer stopped Magee on Highway 53 near Highway 20 in Clearlake Oaks.

Officials with the County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit responded and took Magee into custody on suspicion of murder, for which his bail has been set at $1 million.
