CALEXICO — Border Patrol agents at the El Centro Sector have arrested a previously-deported sex offender on the morning of Monday, September 10.

At around 7 AM, approximately 18 miles east of the Calexico West Downtown Point of Entry, agents came across 26-year-old Mauricio Moreno-Garcia, whom they suspect had made illegal entry.

Garcia, a Mexican national, had previously been convicted in the state of Nevada in 2016 for sexual lewdness with a child under 14 years of age, for which he was sentenced to 24-60 months in prison.

He was originally removed from the United States under the status of “aggravated felon” on January 11, 2018.
