Yuba County man gets 21 years in child molestation case

YUBA COUNTY — A man convicted in a child molestation case has been sentenced to 21 years in prison.

33-year-old Michael Edward Wood of Olivehurst pleaded no-contest on August 23rd, 2019, to continuous sexual abuse of a minor and furnishing a controlled substance to a minor.

Wood was arrested after an investigation that began in 2018. Detectives also believe there is at least one other victim who has yet to be identified.

On Monday September 16th, he was formally sentenced in Yuba County Superior Court to 21 years in state prison, 85% of which he will be required to serve before becoming eligible for parole.

Once paroled, he will have to serve 20.5 years under said status and be required to register as a sex offender for life.
