SANTA CRUZ — Police have arrested two people in connection to a domestic violence incident that reportedly resulted in an arson investigation last week.

On Wednesday, September 4, officers and fire personnel responded to the call and began evacuation efforts at the location, detaining a man by the name of Grant Washburn in the process.

Police say Washburn continually interfered with their duties and, thus, was placed under arrest for obstruction.

Soon thereafter, police developed probable cause to suspect one Brenda Scott as the person who had started the fire.

Scott was transported to an out-of-county trauma center to be treated for injuries sustained during the incident, and remains on an “in-custody status.”
