Narcotics related search warrant yields two arrests

CAYUCOS – The Special Operations Unit of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office served a search-warrant on September 4th at a residence in the 3400 block of Ocean Boulevard.

Deputies discovered 30-year-old Derek Atkins and 39-year-old Carrie Maggard inside. They also discovered scales, baggies, paraphernalia and “street-level-sales amounts of meth.”

In addition, they found a loaded firearm, burglary tools and stolen property. Finally, they found packaged Fentanyl, “a powerful and synthetic opioid.”

Maggard was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sale and burglary tools.

Atkins was arrested for the same charges, as well as  possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of ammunition by a felon.

The SLOCSO reports that “Investigators are in the process of trying to locate the owners of the stolen property.”
