CALAVERAS COUNTY — Officials from the Sheriff’s Office have announced the discovery of and investigation into three illegal grow operations, two in Railroad Flat and one in Copperopolis.

The first two, in Railroad Flat, came on August 27:

Marijuana Enforcement Unit officials served a search warrant for illegal cultivation on the 1000 block of Simpson Road, where they found 741 growing marijuana plants (shown above) as well as processed marijuana. The plants were eradicated and County Code Compliance red-tagged the property for several violations, some of which related to unpermitted structures. No persons were found on the property.

Deputies also served a search warrant at the 1100 block of Royal Lane, where they found and eradicated 115 plants. Again, no persons were located.

The third, in Copperopolis, happened on August 28:

Marijuana Enforcement officials served a search warrant on the 4300 block of Buckboard Lane, where 759 marijuana plants were found and eradicated. As in the first two cases, no persons were found.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office stresses that these operations were indicative of illegal activity, outside of compliance with medical or recreational cultivation.
