A 27-year old Hispanic female was provided with life saving measures by EMS for a stab wound before being air lifted to a regional valley hospital the evening of 08/11/2019.

Madera County Sheriff Deputies Brian Bangerter and Brendan Johnson, Corporal Earl O’Neal, Sergeant Mike Pace, and a K9 team scoured the area around the 15000 block of Avenue 17 in Madera County for the man who stabbed her, who witnesses said matched the identify of 30-year old Jesus Cruz from San Jose. That evening deputies came up empty handed.

The next day, a call came in reporting Cruz was back near the area of the crime scene.

Corporal Matt Kutz and Deputy Ian Roth drove to the area, located Cruz, and arrested him without resistance.

Cruz remains in custody at the Madera County Department of Corrections on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. His bond is set at $1,000,000.
