LAKEPORT — Police say a known active gang member currently on parole has been arrested after being caught with an unregistered firearm.

At around 8 PM on Wednesday, August 14, an officer noticed 25-year-old Christian Estrella standing next to his car in front of his house and, aware of his gang status as well as his legal situation, made contact.

The officer soon discovered a loaded, unregistered 9mm pistol in the center console of his vehicle.

Given his parole status, Estrella is legally prohibited from owning or possessing firearms. He was taken into custody on suspicion of prohibited person in possession of a firearm, prohibited person in possession of ammunition, having an unregistered firearm, and possession of a firearm by a person with previous weapons charges.
