Man nabbed in Guadalajara in connection with 2018 homicide

COLUSA – On January 9th of 2018, 21 year old Colusa County resident Karen Garcia was reported as missing to the Wiliams Police Department. During the ensuing investigation, a search warrant was obtained for her residence, where “evidence found during the search warrant revealed evidence of a homicide.”

Five days later investigators received information about the location of Garcia’s car in Woodland. They indeed discovered the car, and Garcia’s deceased body inside.

Salvador Garcia Jr. was named as a suspect in her death. However, he had disappeared since the homicide. U.S. Marshals joined the search, “working to locate Garcia.”

The Colusa Police Department reports, “Several agencies including local law enforcement as well as the Riverside Police Department, Sacramento County District Attorney Office, Government of Mexico Fiscalia General de Jalisco-Grupo De Ordenes y Apprensiones and the Instituto Nacional de Migracion have assisted the Marshals with over a yearlong investigation. The resources and experience the U.S. Marshals Service brought to the investigation which resulted in the apprehension of Salvador Garcia Jr. should not go unnoticed.”

Finally, on August 4th of 2019, U.S. Marshals turned Garcia over to the Colusa County Task Force after finding him in Guadalajara, Mexico.
