Two attempted armed robberies on July 4th remain unsolved so far

HOLLISTER – Two attempted armed robberies occurred on the same night and the Hollister Police Department is attempting to identify the suspects  in these crimes.

The attempted robberies occurred on Thursday July 4th at 10:00p.m. and 10:37 p.m.  In the first incident, a man was walking home along the 300 block of Nash Road when a white 4-door sedan stopped in front of him and a suspect got out, pointing a pistol at him.

The victim refused to comply and the suspect shot him several times. However, the injuries were non-life threatening. In fact, the shots did not break his skin and “are consistent with a possible air gun or other type of weapon.”

Then hardly more than a half our later, the second similar incident took place. In this second incident, a white SUV pulled up in front of a man standing outside his home in the 1500 block of Memorial Drive.

Again, a male got out armed with a pistol and demanded the victim’s items. This victim refused as well, and this time the suspect left without firing.

In both cases the attempted robber is described as a male Hispanic in his 20’s.
