SANTA CRUZ -Apparently a woman had been “regularly shoplifting” for at least a week from the Safeway store on Mission Street.

The Santa Cruz Police Department was therefore “working the case,” and on July 12th an officer contacted the suspect, 42-year-old Georgia resident Pascal Cheong,  in the parking lot of the store.

Ms. Cheong would have none of it, and made an attempt to drive off. Other SCPD units arrived to the scene and an officer broke Cheong’s car window in an attempt to stop her flight.

Cheong finally stopped but still tried fighting the officers as she got out of her car. She was “arrested and booked into jail for assault on officers with deadly weapon, resisting arrest, trespassing and shoplifting.”
