SISKIYOU – On July 9th the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a man threatening citizens with a gun.

The man, later identified as David Eric Setzer, drove away from the scene in his vehicle but was intercepted on Rocky Gulch Road by arriving deputies

Officers detained Setzer and another man. Investigators discovered a handgun in a residence nearby that Setzer allegedly used as a part of his threats.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for Setzer’s property where the original altercation occurred.

The search warrant yielded “numerous firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, a 9 mm firearm’s suppressor, and a stolen Dodge truck.” At least one of the confiscated firearms was also a stolen one.

In addition, “Suspected explosives or components were discovered on the property, which prompted a response from the SCSO’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD-Bomb Squad) leader, Deputy Bob Buker.” These items were safely destroyed.

The SCSO says, ‘Mr. Setzer was originally arrested and charged with several serious offenses, including brandishing a firearm, criminal threats, and assault with a deadly weapon. Additional charges are pending against him, including possession of stolen property (vehicle and firearm{s}), possession of a firearm’s suppressor, and possession of explosive components.”
