SAN LUIS OBISPO – 62-year-old Richard Orcutt was taken into custody and booked on June 30th for Criminal Threats and Hate Crime charges.

Orcutt allegedly sent threatening letters to property managers and homeowners, informing them that he was going to shoot minorities who moved into his neighborhood.

A search warrant was executed at Orcutt’s residence where San Luis Obispo Police Department detectives seized handguns, rifles and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

Further investigation led detectives to believe that the suspect “sent Hallmark cards depicting the American flag” to various property managers and property owners. The cards bore no return name or address, and “contained threatening language to shoot people of minority descent.”
