Officers went to Lee Summit and indeed discovered a body in the woods. The female was reported as a missing person from Nevada County, later identified as 52-year-old Etta Elmore of Penn Valley.

The investigation into Elmore’s death led to an interview with her mother, 67-year-old Michelle Powers.
