Four Arrested During Illegal Gambling Casino Bust

A week-long investigation by Metro Patrol deputies into an illegal gambling casino resulted in the arrest of four suspects.

On Saturday night, 06/29/2019, Kern County deputies served a search warrant on the 9700 block of Aim Avenue.

They located four firearms and 3,000 rounds of ammunitions. Two of the guns, a Glock Model 23 .40 caliber and a Beretta .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol, had been reported stolen.

They also located an eight-person “Fish Table” gaming console and six computer terminals.

Two suspects were arrested for operating the illegal casino and conspiracy to commit a crime: 36-year old James Helm and 37-year old Jeffrey Helm.

The older Helm was additionally charged with receiving stolen property, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and convicted felon in possession of ammunition. He remains in custody at the Kern County Jail with bail set at $145,000.

Two women, 46-year old Maryanne Yeakley and 28-year old Angelica Crotwell, were arrested for outstanding arrest warrants for misdemeanor charges.
