Suspect in stabbing at the Hen House arrested

REDDING – On April 27th two men were stabbed as they left the Hen House Bar located at 2621 Hartnell Avenue.

Both men went to the hospital with “significant stab or slashing type wounds to their faces, necks, chests, backs, hands and arms.  The victims received extensive suturing but recovered from their wounds.”

Review of surveillance video from the bar helped investigators identify 39-year-old Juan Carlos Hernandez.

With a warrant for Hernandez’ arrest, investigators began the search for the stabbing suspect.

He was finally located on the morning of June 6 in the 1400 block of Wingsetter Way.  Officers arrested Hernandez without incident, and he confessed to the crime while under questioning but claimed that it was in self-defense.

Surveillance video said otherwise, so the stabber was “booked on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.”
