ORLAND – On Wednesday May 29th,  a man was at the Chevron on Newville Road getting gas when an unknown male suspect got into his car at the gas pump and drove it away.

Video surveillance identified the thief of the 2004 Ford F-250 as 57-year-old Jeremiah Dock, a local transient.

Soon, Orland Police Department deputies spotted the stolen truck traveling southbound on I-5 and attempted to stop it. However, Dock apparently had other plans and refused to stop and lead officers on a chase. The CHP took over the chase near Corning, and a spike strip was later deployed near Red Bluff, finally bringing Dock and the stolen vehicle to a stop.

Dock was placed under arrest and booked into the Tehama County Jail on multiple misdemeanor and felony charges, however he was released less than 24 hours later “due to the jail being at capacity.”
