Trio arrested for fatal shooting on Highway 70

PLUMAS LAKE –  Around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 22nd, a fatal shooting occurred on Highway 70 in Plumas Lake.  One Sacramento man died and another one was injured in the shooting.

An investigation continued during the following week, in which the suspect vehicle was “tracked in over a dozen business security videos for over 30 miles through Yuba, Sutter and Butte counties.

The video tracing of the vehicle showed the route the vehicle had traveled before the shooting occurred. With this evidence, an arrest of three suspects quickly resulted.

On May 30th, 20-year-old Avery Sanchez of Sacramento and 21-year-old Vivion Wallace of Yuba City were arrested on charges of murder. They were determined to be the two shooters in the incident. Additionally, both were on parole at the time.

That same evening,19-year-old Juan Antonio Barajas of Citrus Heights was arrested with the assistance of the Citrus Heights Police Department. Barajas faces charges for being an accessory.  Apparently the victims did not know he shooters, and at this time a motive for the shooting remains unknown.
