HALF MOON BAY – Early on the morning of February 22 of 2018 Kimberly Quiroz was shot. The shooting occurred at a residence in the 200 block of Poplar Street.

The single gunshot wound sent the victim to the hospital in critical condition. Sadly, on March 3rd of 2018 she died as a result of her wounds.

The investigation into Quiroz’ death lasted for the next 15 months. The investigation resulted in 23-year-old Tristan Cecil of Half Moon Bay being identified as her killer.

When he was identified as the shooter, Cecil was already in custody at San Quentin State Prison “serving the remainder of a three-year narcotics sales sentence.”

Cecil subsequently got a ride to the San Mateo County Jail where he is now booked on a homicide charge.
