MOUNTAIN VIEW – The Mountain View Police Department has announced the arrest of a 46-year-old male suspect for the rape of a child under 14 years of age and lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14 years of age.  Sean Muilenburg was arrested after Mountain View Police found Muilenburg had been in contact with a 12-year-old female who had created an online profile on an adult dating site.

The family of the 12-year-old became concerned when she went missing from her home around 2:00 am in the morning.  The young teen’s parents called the Mountain View Police Department to report their daughter’s disappearance. Investigators soon learned that Muilenburg had been in contact with the teen and had sent numerous text messages to her, eventually exchanging cell phone numbers.

In their search for the teen, they located Muilenburg just outside his home on the 500 block of Chesley Court after he had just dropped the female teen several blocks from her Sunnyvale home in an attempt to avoid detection.  According to police, “Muilenburg picked the girl up at a Sunnyvale park, drove her to his home, and allegedly engaged in non-consensual sexual acts with her.”

Muilenburg was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for allegedly engaging in non-consensual sexual acts with a minor under the age of 14.  Mountain View Police are asking the public’s help in identifying other possible victims sexually assaulted by Muilenburg. Mountain View detectives are concerned there may be additional victims. If you or someone you know may be a victim of Muilenburg, please contact Detective Temo Gonzalez at temo.gonzalez@mountainview.gov.
