COVELO – Closing in on midnight on Saturday April 27 th, a deputy with the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Department saw a vehicle driving recklessly on the 76000 block of Highway 162.

38-year-old Colter Reynolds stopped his vehicle as the deputy pulled him over  in front of a residence in the 76000 block of Main Street.

Reynolds got out of his vehicle and began walking towards the residence. Although the deputy called for him to stop, the suspect kept walking into the residence and shut the door behind him.

Therefore the deputy forced entry into the residence, but Reynolds ran out of the back. The fleeing suspect also threw a “wooden piece of the back door” at the deputy and hit him in the legs with it.

Despite his efforts to flee, the deputy was eventually able to subdue Reynolds and placed him under arrest. The deputy also discovered a baggie of cocaine on the suspect.

Reynolds now faces charges of felony resisting and possession of a controlled substance, and his bail was set at $15,000.
