MILPITAS — On Thursday April 18th, the Milpitas Police Department responded to calls made to report a 3-year-old male who appeared to be unconscious with ligature marks on his neck and other injuries visible on his body.  According to the Emergency Responders, the boy appeared to be non-responsive and was not breathing upon their arrival.

The Milpitas Police department quickly responded to the scene to begin an investigation into the death. Their investigation revealed suspicious circumstances around the behavior of a 70-year-old grandmother who was left to take care of several children at the home located near the 700 block of Luz Del Sol Loop in Milpitas.

Foos Abdi Hashi was arrested just hours after investigators determined that the child was manually strangled by Hashi. There were other children in the home who witnessed the strangulation and were scared for their lives. They were able to tell investigators what their grandmother had done to the boy.

Hashi was arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on a no-bail warrant for PC 187, Felony Homicide.
