RED BLUFF – The Red Bluff Police Department deemed it a “force incident” on April 14th. Just after midnight, officers came upon a male “armed with a large stick” on Antelope Boulevard near Rio Street.

The suspect would not drop the stick and walked away, with officers following him. They then used the Taser and bean bag rounds in an attempt to stop and detain the man.

Rather, the man turned and came at the officers with the big stick. The RBPD reported, “One officer fired one round, striking the male.”

Although the victim was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, he was pronounced deceased. The officer who fired the shot was placed on administrative leave. He has been with the RBPD for three and a half years.
