FREMONT— A middle-aged man is in trouble for lewd behavior in front of children. Police arrested Jose Ortiz-Felix following a reported incident inside a recreation center.

Ortiz-Felix, 55 of Newark, is accused of touching his genitals while watching children at play. This allegedly happened at Rockin’ Jump, a 19,000-square-foot trampoline park located on Farwell Drive.

The facility is designed for children, offering birthday parties, games and other activities, and of course trampolines. It was business as usual on March 31 until a boisterous disturbance erupted.

Staff and parents angrily confronted Ortiz-Felix for touching himself, and someone phoned the police. As more individuals continued to confront him, Ortiz-Felix bolted and ran out the main door.

The suspect was chased outside to the parking lot. Next, he jumped into a car and sped away from the scene. He left behind stunned parents and staff members.

Witnesses were able to provide officers with the man’s license plate number, making it easy to identify the suspect.

However, it took more than a week of searching, before authorities could locate and apprehend him. Police finally arrested Ortiz-Felix on April 9.

Ortiz-Felix faces charges for engaging in lewd conduct in public. However, this investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information concerning this case or similar incidents can call Fremont police at 510-790-6900.
