Vehicle thefts in Santa Clara County Remain at an All-time High

SANTA CLARA — On April 6, 2019, the Santa Clara Police Department arrested two individuals linked to a stolen vehicle parked at a local motel in the 3400 block of El Camino Real. A records check of a possible stolen vehicle was performed due to the vehicle being of a frequently stolen make and model.
According to police, “A check of the vehicle identification number confirmed it was stolen out of San Jose.”
Two suspects were identified by Motel 6 staff and were located within the room that they were renting. Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for felony car theft.
A similar incident occurred in Milpitas, in which Milpitas Police Department officers pulled over a car that was identified as stolen out of San Jose. Two suspects 27-year-old Sonjohnny Le and his passenger 28-year-old Lorena Reyna were pulled over near the 300-Block of Piedmont Road.
A records check revealed that the car had been stolen out of San Jose. For her part, Reyna was also found to be in possession of 2.8 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Le was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for possession of a concealed firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of a criminal protective order.
Reyna was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, under the influence of a controlled substance, providing a false identity and the misdemeanor warrant.
