It was Saturday February 2nd, when a Crop Duster owned by Ag Aviation Spraying Business caught a bullet while in the air.

They called Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Ag Crime Detectives to investigate. Over the following days, detectives narrowed their search to 54-year old Roy Vander Velde as the suspected shooter.

In addition to witness accounts stating Velde had threatened to shoot the plane, evidence to support Velde was the suspected shooter was found in his home during a warranted search on Tuesday, February 5th.

Velde was arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault with a firearm, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, and obstructing a peace officer. The Visalia resident has been booked into Tulare County’s Adult Pre-Trail Facility. His bail is set at $1,200,000.
