“Door Dash” Poseurs Deliver A Brazen Burglary

EL SEGUNDO – The El Segundo Police Department wants you to be on the lookout for two male burglars who are impersonating food delivery service representatives. On Sunday, January 27th, 2019, at approximately 1:30 am, the duo approached a home in the 800 block of Hillcrest Street. They woke up the resident, who was asleep in his living room, by calling to him through the open front door.

Claiming to be employees of the Door Dash food delivery service, the poseurs swiftly opened the door and entered the house, asking if they could use the bathroom. Getting permission, they used the facilities, then left the residence without incident.

Or so it seemed. The next day, the victim discovered that his wallet was missing – then concluded it was stolen as his credit cards had just been used at several locations.

The victim described the suspects as two male black adults. One was approximately 21 years old, thin, around 6’5″ tall, wearing a black long sleeve shirt and black sweatpants. The other suspect was approximately 40, around 5’11” with a muscular build, wearing a tan long sleeve shirt.

The incident vividly illustrates the importance of closing and locking your doors — especially at night — for your safety and the safety of your family.
