Police Capture Suspect During Residential Burglary

PALO ALTO – The Palo Alto Police Department made an arrest of a burglary suspect found in an unoccupied University Avenue home on January 29th.

“A female in her sixties had arrived home and found her kitchen window smashed, according to Palo Alto Police Sergeant Craig Lee. “She immediately called 9-1-1 for help and did not enter the residence.”

Once responding officers arrived at the residence they heard noise coming from the upstairs of the home.  Police called for the suspect to exit from the home. However, the man refused by saying that he lived in the home. It was clear that the man was uncooperative and a canine unit was called in to help subdue the suspect after he fought with the officers.

The suspect was identified as 53-year-old Eugene Adkism of San Jose. Adkism was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for residential burglary, possession of stolen property, and resisting arrest.

Police suspect that there may be other victims. Anyone with information about this incident or others that may be linked to the suspect is asked to call our 24-hour dispatch center at 650-329-2413.
