CHICO – At first the call that came in to CPD on January 5 reported a hit and run. When officers arrived to the 1100 block of Warner Street, however, they discovered “an 18-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.”

Armed with a description of the vehicle that had been seen fleeing the area, officers soon discovered and stopped it, with its two male occupants.

An investigation revealed that this incident was drug related. Apparently an altercation arose and the victim was shot in the face by one of the suspects.

The driver of the stopped vehicle, 19-year-old Elias Parker, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and being in possession of a stolen firearm.

A search warrant served at a Chico residence resulted in the contacting of two other suspects from the incident.

20-year-old Joshua Williams was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, felon in possession of a firearm discharging a firearm from a vehicle and probation violation.

Williams was determined to be the shooter in this crime.

CPD says, “The victim is still recovering from the gunshot wound that is considered non-life threatening.”
