SAN BERNARDINO – Dewaina Cunningham (52) of San Bernardino was arrested yesterday at 1:00 PM for her brand of care for the mentally disabled. New Discovery Residential Services reported their worker, who’d been responsible for the care of dependent adults for nearly one year.

New Discovery observed surveillance from November 2018 starring Cunningham wielding a stun gun “to mentally intimidate and physically assault the (anonymous) victim.”

The abuse allegations were reported to be occurring in the adult care home on the 6100 block of Blythe Avenue. Interviews by Detectives corroborated the evidence.

After Cunningham was arrested and booked at the Central Detention Center for a felony, PC 368(b)(1) – Dependent Adult Abuse, the incident was cross-reported to San Bernardino County Adult Protective Services.

Since Cunningham’s employment history includes caretaker work at other board and care facilities in San Bernardino County, further information is sought.

Central Station Detective Bureau Investigators believe that releasing Cunningham’s photograph to the public may identify additional victims or unreported incidents..

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department – Central Station at (909) 387-3545.
