FONTANA -A domestic violence situation turned into a standoff requiring SWAT to assist in an arrest.

On November 2nd at 6:20 p.m. the Fontana Police Department responded to a call in which the suspect attacked the mother of his children on the 7600 block of Citrus Avenue.

33-year-old Caudillo Esteban attacked the woman, then fired several shots into his backyard.  Officers responded and talked to the victim and her family out in the front yard.

Esteban was inside the house, and would not come out. SWAT then arrived and “several hours of failed communication” ensued. Finally, “SWAT made entry” into the home.

A K9 also entered the house to assist in the retrieval of the suspect, who was hiding in the attic. Esteban also “violently attacked” the K9 in an unsuccessful attempt to remain free.

Before his arrest, Esteban “received medical treatment” for his encounter with the K9.
